Mâna Deschisă Association

Christian residential center for homeless people or for those who are in the immediate danger of becoming homeless due to poverty, abuse, domestic violence, emotional problems or substance use.

What is our objective?

We have a daring goal – that is to offer tough and unconditional love to all our beneficiaries as they overcome the disadvantages of their lives and destructive behaviors. We want to offer a home for today and a hope for the future!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the work of Mana Deschisa in offering love and the opporunity to change to the homeless and disadvantaged youth, to those who have experienced circumstances in their lives that most of us could hardly imagine.

Our community offers safety and support for them to start a new life. The goal is to introduce them back into society, addiction-free, healthier in relationships, prepared for work, having assumed responsibility for their lives and hopefully having a relationship with God.

Our commitment to Christian Values

We, the board and employees of Mana Deschisa, are all Christians from various denominations. We realize that we are called by God to dedicate ourselves to this ministry. Despite our professional qualifications and experience, we recognize that we are limited in our ability to care for our beneficiaries and we believe that they can receive deeper healing by establishing a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Our beneficiaries are free to examine our faith if they are interested. The decision to live a life dedicated to Christ has to be a free choice taken only by the individual. We expect from our beneficiaries to have respect for times of prayer, Bible studies, or church services on Sundays as part of our Christian based program.

Our Program

Homeless people have greater needs than just a shelter where to feel stability and safety. They are often victims of abuse, emotional traumas, are struggling with substance use and are facing relational problems and poverty. Besides a shelter, they need a complex system of services that would address their well-being in general.

At Mana Deschisa it is our desire to support these people as they fight to overcome their condition and who are willing to make a conscious effort in order to change their lives. Our program focuses on the individual’s motivation to reclaim responsibility for their own life, changing negative habits and preparing for becoming a healthy person within our society.

In order to improve our beneficiaries’ well-being, we offer a daily program and activities that focus on different areas (physical, emotional, social and spiritual). We believe that one area influences another and there has to be a healthy balance that would stimulate a learning process and would help the person face the different challenges in life.

Our working methods in the daily program and the activities we conduct include:

Community Outreach

Through the work we do in Mana Deschisa, we are constantly looking for opportunities to bless our community and reach out to people. Over the years we have done it in different ways:

- By going to hospitals, prisons, street centers and on the streets, talking to people, encouraging them, sharing God’s love and letting them know that there is hope;

- We made donations to poor villages, helped organize a container of medical supplies to the local hospital, done a small renovation for the hospital and organized a week of free dental care;

- Blessed others from the community with our harvest from the greenhouse, eggs from our chickens and handmade crafts;

- We organized a few prevention lessons in schools on addiction, a conference on Attachment Disorder and summer programs for kids;

- Our Learning Center offers daily learning possibilities, activities and guidance for children using the ACE program (Accelerated Christian Education).
